APx’s founding team has developed robust relationships throughout the financial landscape. The foundation of this formidable network was built over years of involvement, gaining access to institutional investors, private equity funds, hedge funds, venture capital funds, founders, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals. Daniel Braatz

  • Dan is the Co-Founder and CEO of APx Capital. Dan is regarded as a top entrepreneur in the financial services, alternative assets, distress and real estate sectors in Mexico. He has extensive experience and track record from executing landmark transactions as well as from investing and creating investment platforms in US and Latin America with a combined AUM of over US$1.8bn. Mr. Braatz is also an active LP investor through different funds and companies, acting as member and LPAC.


  • He currently acts as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of APx Acquisition Corp I, Sponsor and Co-Founder of Xinfra FE (Infrastructure MLP listed in the Mexican Stock Exchange), CEO of FHipo (first and only MREIT in Mexico), Yave (the largest non-bank digital mortgage lender in Mexico), VRE (a vertical residential developer) and leads APx’s structured credit and distressed asset strategies (ACCAP and FB). Dan is also a key investor in HiTo after implementing an aggressive leverage buyout that ultimately was repaid thanks to the company’s outperformance.


  • Dan is a board member on different companies including Grupo Gigante, FHipo, CENCOR/BIVA, Yave, Infosel, VRE and ACCap; he also holds a position as an LPAC member of YaaX Capital and other funds in which he is an investor.


  • Prior to APx, Dan Co-Founded VACE Partners an Investment Bank boutique in Mexico. He previously was an investment banker at Citigroup.

Alfredo Vara

  • Co-founder and member of the board APx Capital. Alfredo has more than 25 years of  experience in public and private financial institutions and investing platforms (AUM > US $1.5 bn).

  • Alfredo served as CEO of Banobras (Feb. 2017 – Nov. 2018, 5th biggest bank in Mexico by loan portfolio). During his tenure, financial performance was substantially improved and financial access was promoted. Banobras became the first issuer of sustainable bonds in LatAm among other significant achievements. He was responsible for overseeing FONADIN’s investments, the largest MLP in Mexico.

  • Currently, Alfredo is dedicated to take  XInfra to market; an infrastructure fund focused  on brown fields, with stabilized cashflows, generating value through optimizing operations, scaling revenue flows , improving capital structures, among others.

  • Alfredo is co-founder, member of the board, and first managing partner of Fhipo’s first LatAm MREIT; currently involved in strategic decision making.

  • Co-founder and board member of ACCAP (distressed asset fund) & Yave (digital mortgage originator).

  • Alfredo co-founded Vace Partners Investment Banking boutique, where he oversaw various transactions including M&A, structured debt, capital raising and financial advice, among others.

  • Advisor to the board of HiTo (master administrator platform) and key investor.

  • Alfredo has been selected as member of boards and investment committees for Afore XXI, Infonavit, Fincasa and Finrural, among others.

  • Alfredo holds a Master in Economics and an MBA from Yale University and a BSc in Economics from ITAM.

Jesús Ordaz

  • Jesús is a co-founder of APx Capital, he has more than 15 years of experience in the financial sector and he currently leads some strategies within our special situations fund and structured credit portfolios. He has acted as board member to some of the portfolio companies.

  • Prior to APX. Jesús worked as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Citi in the Latin America team where he executed some of the most relevant transactions across various sectors that have shaped the landscape. Jesús led the M&A and Capital Markets efforts and was sector captain for various sectors across the region.

  • Jesús has completed more than US $10.5 bn in M&A transactions, US $6.0 bn in equity issuances and US $2.3 bn in debt issuances.

  • Today, Jesus is devoted to take XInfra to the public markets. XInfra is an infrastructure fund focused on brown fields, with stabilized cashflows, creating value via the optimization of operations, improving capital structures, and scaling revenue flows, among other strategies. Jesús holds an MBA from London Business School and a BSc. in Industrial Engineering from ITAM.

Ignacio Gutiérrez

  • Ignacio currently serves as CFO at FHipo.

  • Prior to FHipo, he worked as an investment banker in a well-known investment bank.

  • His responsibilities included a long record of executing mergers and acquisitions, debt structuring and capital raising transactions, which were carried out by companies in the United States, Mexico and Latin America, in a wide variety of sectors, including multiple transactions with different government entities.

Xavier Martínez

  • Xavier is Investment Principal and Co-Founder, he actively participates in analyzing deal flow and executing M&A, equity raising, and investments transactions.

  • He is also Co-Founder and CFO of APx Acquisition Corp. I (SPAC).

  • Before joining APx Capital, Xavier served as Vice President of Investments and Investor Relations Officer (IRO) at FHipo. He is co-founder of Yave, an online mortgage origination platform, and was the Business Development Officer (BDO).

  • Xavier holds a degree in Economics from the Universidad Iberoamericana and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management with majors in finance and strategy.

  • APx Acquisition Corp. is seeking its IPO as a SPAC in the NASDAQ.

  • The company’s efforts to identify a prospective target business will not be limited to a particular industry or geographic region, although it intends to focus on businesses in Mexico, Spanish-speaking Latin America, and Hispanic firms in the United States.

  • First Mortgage Real Estate Investment Trust (MREIT) in Latin America. FHipo IPOed in 2014 (US $600 mm) and executed a Follow-on Offering in 2017 (US $150 mm). FHipo is the first public vehicle in LatAm that allows the general public to invest in Mexican residential mortgage portfolios. FHipo seeks to generate attractive returns for long-term investors through distribution payments and capital appreciation.

Benito Villarreal

  • Benito currently serves as the Debt and Capital Markets Director at CH Asset management. He previously served as Vice President of Investment and Risk. Prior to this, Benito was an Investment Banker specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Debt Structuring and Real Estate transactions in a wide variety of sectors at KPMG Mexico.

  • Before joining KPMG, Benito was an Investment Banker at Actinver Casa de Bolsa, where he worked in both the ECM and DCM. Benito holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana, and specialized in finance and economics in the final semesters; he later studied a Specialization in Finance at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México ITAM.

Jesús Gómez

  • Jesús currently serves as the COO of FHipo. He has extensive experience in the Mexican financial and mortgage sector. In 2002, he joined Infonavit, where he was responsible for risk management, finance and administration, strategic planning, and the issuance of CEDEVIS (residential mortgage-backed securities, or RMBS). He was responsible for the largest Mexican RMBS issuance program, from 2007 to 2009.

  • Before joining Infonavit, Jesús held management positions at Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer (GFBB), including Director of Investor Relations, Deputy Director of Financial Projects and Deputy Director of Strategic Planning.

Patricia Montiel

  • Patricia Montiel Font is currently the Legal Counsel at APx Capital. She is also Legal Director of CH Asset Management at FHipo.

  • She has extensive experience in the administration and sale of credit portfolios of various financial institutions.

  • Previously, Patricia was a partner at Montiel Font y Asociados, S.C., as well as a law firm specializing in corporate and financial law called Casares, Castelazo, Frías y Zárate, S.C.

  • Throughout her professional career, Patricia has worked at financial institutions such as the Institute for the Protection of Banking Savings (IPAB) and Chévez, Ruiz, Zamarripa y Cia., S.C. Patricia obtained a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master’s degree in Humanities from Universidad Anáhuac México Norte.

  • Yave (formerly Smart Lending) is a Prop Tech start-up, created in 2017 with the objective of transforming the Mexican mortgage industry. Yave is the first online mortgage origination platform in Mexico with the ability to divest balance sheet credit risk.

  • FIBRA Haus is the First Real Estate Investment Trust focused on multifamily assets in the most important cities of Mexico.

  • FIBRA Haus aims to become the owner of the largest multifamily portfolio in Mexico with an estimated 3,000 units owned in the short term.
